In warm climates, like ours in south Louisiana, nothing brings a smile quicker than the
sight of a cool refreshing body of water in our yard like a pond, a swimming pool, or a spa. Not only does a water feature in our landscape refresh our souls, but there is no better way to keep cool than a
frolic in the backyard pool or spa. Let us design an oasis for your backyard. We design and install swimming pools, spas, decks, gazebos and arbors. Also, we can design a complementary landscape to
complete this cool retreat.
Ponds
Ponds
offer our landscapes an added dimension; another place to garden! Not to be overlooked is the enjoyment of watching and hearing running or falling water that soothes the soul and replaces the background noise of suburbia.
A pond is a natural environment where flora and fauna live together in a mutually
beneficial relationship. There are many showy water lilies and lotuses that live well in a pond. There is also a large variety of plants that thrive along the water's edge in transitional and marsh zones, and
whose foliage add much interest to the pond. Ponds located in Zones 6-10 should have no problem over-wintering fish if the pond is at least 30" deep.
Commonly, a pond can be constructed of concrete, pre-molded plastic, or PVC liners.
Pre-molded plastic ponds are commonly shaped as circles, squares, rectangles, ovals and kidney shaped, and come in a variety of sizes. Concrete and PVC lined pools can take on an unlimited number of organic
shapes; these work well in a pre-existing landscape. As a rule of thumb, a garden pond needs approximately 4-6 hours of sunshine a day, and it is best if the pond is sited away from trees. With so many
choices available, there's a pond to suit everyone's needs.
